Your kitchen is the most-used room in your home — and the most valuable square footage you own. When it stops working for your family, or simply no longer reflects who you are, it’s time for a kitchen remodel built around how you actually live. At Mitchell Woodwork & Remodeling, we’ve been transforming kitchens for Round Rock and the greater Austin area for over two decades. As a licensed general contractor and in-house custom cabinet maker, we handle every phase of your kitchen renovation under one roof — no subcontractor juggling, no finger-pointing, no surprises.
Whether you’re doing a targeted refresh — new countertops, a cabinet upgrade, better lighting — or a complete gut renovation that opens walls and relocates plumbing, our team brings the same precision craftsmanship and transparent communication to every project.
Unlike contractors who outsource cabinetry to a third-party manufacturer, we build your kitchen cabinets in our own shop. That means every door, drawer box, and frame is crafted to your exact measurements — no filler strips, no gaps, no off-the-shelf compromise. Choose from a full range of premium hardwoods including white oak, maple, cherry, and walnut, with your choice of finish, hardware, and door style. Our custom kitchen cabinets include soft-close drawers, pull-out shelving, hidden spice racks, built-in trash and recycling drawers, and any specialty storage feature your kitchen demands.
Countertops define the visual identity of your kitchen. We work with quartz, granite, quartzite, and marble, and our in-stock slab inventory means you can see and touch your material before committing. Our team handles full slab fabrication and installation, including undermount sink cutouts, edge profiling, and seamless backsplash integration.
Sometimes the biggest improvement isn’t cosmetic — it’s spatial. We remove walls to create open-concept layouts, add kitchen islands, relocate sinks, and reconfigure traffic flow so your kitchen works the way a kitchen should. As a licensed general contractor, we pull all required Williamson County permits, coordinate inspections, and ensure every structural change meets Texas building code.
A true kitchen renovation touches every system in the room. Our team handles plumbing (faucet upgrades, pot fillers, garbage disposal, water line relocation), electrical (task lighting, under-cabinet LED strips, new breaker additions, GFCI outlets), and HVAC (range hood ventilation, ductwork). No calling a separate plumber or electrician — we coordinate it all.
The details are what separate a good kitchen remodel from a great one. We install hardwood, tile, and luxury vinyl plank flooring with precision transitions, lay backsplash tile with clean grout lines, add crown molding and custom trim, and finish with paintwork that ties everything together. Built-in charging stations, wine racks, open shelving, and custom pantry doors are the kinds of specialty details we love.
Kitchen remodel investment in Round Rock typically ranges from $25,000 for a focused update (new cabinets, countertops, fixtures) to $75,000 or more for a full gut renovation with structural changes and high-end finishes. The primary cost drivers are cabinet type (stock vs. semi-custom vs. fully custom), countertop material, scope of plumbing and electrical work, and layout changes. We provide detailed, line-item estimates before any work begins — no vague ballparks, no change-order surprises.

Matthias FelleisenTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Jeff's commitment to his work, as a human-to-human service to his customers, are unparalleled. I have worked with many contractors over the years on various houses, but Jeff is the best. I met with him once, for approximately 15-20 minutes and sketched out the various additions I wanted, including two large bookshelves for my study (see photo for one of them). After that, we communicated via text messages and phone calls. Jeff kept me posted about every step: measuring, spelling out my requirements, specifying the shelves via drawings (plus the electric outlets that come through), the selection of the wood, the choice of lacquer, all the way to the installation (which came with a short video). When I actually got back, the work was done and it was perfect. Don't bother to consider alternatives if you live north of Austin. My kitchen remodel was truly a one-of-a-kind. The cabinets, with inset doors, were made of hand-selected rift-sawn white oak. The wood is stained, and it’s so beautiful it grabs your attention. Building these cabinets required near perfect craftsmanship. There was very little room for error. The free-floating 3 inch thick, solid white oak shelving over the coffee/beverage bar was hand-hewn by Jeff Mitchell and installed using “invisible” steel rods to support these very heavy artistic wooden pieces. He embedded under counter lighting under each shelf. The results are so eye-catching that it summons you to the counter for a cup of coffee just to look at the wood. I highly recommend Jeff and his team to see your vision, and then plan your remodel. I remodeled Arts & Crafts homes of the 1940’s for 8 years. I have a very critical eye, and I’m hard to please. They want to be proud of their work, and they want to please you, too. If there was anything that I did not like, there was never an argument, and it was attended to immediately. Jeff will make it right, his attitude is “we want to make you happy!” He and Rocco are very creative, they love a challenge, and they have the “We can do that” attitude! These skilled craftsmen are absolutely a delight to have on the job. They keep you informed, they keep to the schedule, and they work hard. I was lucky to find them! Shay BainesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. It was a pleasure to work with Jeff & Robert on my built-in dining room buffet/bar project. Robert diligently worked on finding a stain color that would match existing cabinets. Jeff was great to bounce ideas off when looking for a solution for the shelves to hold significant weight. They had great communication, were punctual and cleaned up all project debris. We asked to push the install to the week after Thanksgiving, and they graciously agreed. We love how the project turned out, and have received many compliments; some saying it appears as if the house was built this way. Anna LaldinTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I love my beautiful new sink installed by Mitchell Woodwork and Remodeling! They installed it quickly, did an excellent job, were easy to communicate with, and showed unmatched kindness every step of the way. HomeownerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Jeff & his crew did a great job remodeling my entire home including cabinetry, flooring, lighting, baseboards, door frames, plumbing, granite countertops and removing a wall. I would definitely use them again. virginia calleyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The Mitchell Woodwork and Remodeling team did a great job completely redoing two of our bathrooms. It was a huge project and they work tirelessly in our home even under very difficult circumstances! Our AC went out and they worked for two days in the heat! They cleaned up after themselves at the end of every work day and made every effort to make sure we were pleased with the final product. We now have two bathrooms that look absolutely gorgeous and we are so very thankful! We wish this company the absolute best in all their future endeavors and we hope you will give them an opportunity to work for you!
Most kitchen renovations take 6–10 weeks from demo to final walkthrough. Projects involving structural changes, wall removal, or fully custom cabinetry may extend to 12–14 weeks. We provide a detailed milestone timeline at project kickoff so you always know what’s happening and when.
Yes. Electrical, plumbing, and any structural work require building permits through the City of Round Rock or Williamson County. We manage the full permit process — application, scheduling, inspections — so you don’t have to. All work is code-compliant and inspection-ready.
Most clients do, yes. We set up a temporary kitchen area (microwave, coffee maker, mini-fridge in another room), maintain clean work zones, and schedule high-dust or high-noise phases to minimize disruption to your daily routine.
Stock cabinets come in fixed sizes, limited wood species, and standard finishes. Our custom cabinets are built to your exact kitchen dimensions, in the wood species and finish you choose, with the interior configuration you specify. They fit perfectly, look better, and last decades longer.
We handle the full kitchen renovation — cabinets, countertops, plumbing, electrical, flooring, backsplash, custom woodwork and trim, crown molding, and paintwork — done right and finished by hand. You deal with one team, one contract, and one point of contact from start to finish.
If the kitchen is just the beginning, we also specialize in a whole home remodel in Round Rock — one team, one contract, from the kitchen through every room.
